Michael Signer is an American attorney, scholar, executive, author and public scholar, whose work focuses on strengthening our democracy. He was elected Mayor in 2016 by the Charlottesville City Council, and served as mayor for two years. As mayor, Signer’s four main priorities were innovation, infrastructure, governance, and equity. Signer is a graduate of Princeton University, UC Berkeley, and the University of Virginia School of Law. He has written three books: “Cry Havoc”, “Becoming Madison”, and “Demagogue”.
